Camera Club – Creative Toy Car Photography
At camera club we experimented with photographing toy cars using a range of creative techniques to produce cinematic and commercial-style images.
- Used laptop screens as colourful backgrounds to create different environments and lighting.
- Placed the cars on a gloss black acrylic sheet to create clean reflections, giving the images a premium showroom look.
- Experimented with crumpled foil as a textured background to produce interesting highlights and reflections.
- Added two-tone coloured lighting to create mood and atmosphere, inspired by the dramatic look of James Bond film posters and promotional photography.
- Explored how different backgrounds, reflections and lighting completely changed the feel of the same subject.
The session reinforced how simple materials and creative lighting can transform an ordinary toy car into a striking, professional-looking photograph.
What I Learned
This session showed me that simple materials and creative lighting can produce professional-looking images. I learned how reflections, coloured lights and experimenting with different setups can completely change the mood and style of a photograph.
